Find the angle before writing the invitation
A country or city contains many possible stories. The task is to identify the one that fits a publication, an audience and a particular moment. I consider the existing perception of the destination, the editorial interest and the practical experience behind the proposed angle. This helps make the pitch specific enough to be useful.
Prepare the experience behind the story
Press and study trips depend on careful coordination: a coherent programme, informed local partners, realistic travel times and useful background material. My early reference from the Polish Tourism Organisation explicitly covers press work, invitations, trade contact and international events. A later institutional thank-you letter recognises a thoughtfully arranged Kraków programme.
Follow the relationship beyond the event
The work continues with follow-up information, image requests, practical answers and monitoring of coverage. I want the relationship to remain useful after the trip or meeting. Editorial decisions remain with the journalist or publication; thoughtful preparation supports the opportunity without guaranteeing coverage.
Practical scope
- Destination angles and background material
- Press and trade invitations
- Programme and partner coordination
- Newsletters and multilingual content
- Media follow-up and coverage monitoring
Questions about this area
Which parts of PR do you connect?
Media and trade relationships, destination knowledge, content, invitations, practical programme coordination and follow-up. The exact contribution depends on the project and the wider team.
Which markets and languages?
My professional Nordic context includes Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. My own working languages are Swedish, Polish and English. Additional local-language review belongs in the plan where needed.
Can a press trip guarantee an article?
No. Editorial independence remains with the journalist and publication. Good preparation gives the visit substance and makes reliable information available; it should not be presented as guaranteed coverage.

A documented early chapter in my destination-marketing career: participation in the team behind the “Chopin / Polska—The Course” promotional project and its VIP gala in Stockholm City Hall in June 2010.
Kraków 2014
Programme planning, local guides, excursions and thoughtful restaurant suggestions. A letter addressed to me after a September 2014 group visit shows how practical preparation can strengthen a cultural experience.
